So I'm still somewhat new to CS3 and Photoshop in general, but what do you think of this edit? I basically took to the bottom half of the trees and down of the second image and put them in the first and then cropped to 4x6 format. Next I played around with the levels until I got something I liked.

I like this a lot. I can imagine it being more dramatic if we were closer up behind the riders with the snow nearly flying up into our faces and the trees and that sky looming above. Good Heavens, if you are this good now...! I hope to see stuff from you in the contests.
I'd be very interested in exactly what you did in postwork. I really struggle to get good color in the sky without introducing a huge amount of noise and/or too much artificiality.

Well, as I said before I really don't have much idea of what I
m doing I just mess around with what I know. I first opened up the two images and I liked the leading cloud lines but also wanted the snowmobilers in it so I copied from middle half of the trees down and then pasted it into the first picture (To do this I enlarged the canvas to make sure I had enough room). After I combined them it was kind of boxy so I cropped it as a 4x6
Next, the colors were nice but kind of weak so I went to Image -> Adjustments -> Curves. After this I messed around with each individual color until I got it how I liked it.
That's pretty much it. I know it's not the most...precise and preplanned way of editing it, but I'm still learning. I hope that helped
