What's up with the tracking number link?

I searched the forum on this and all I could find was a Feb 2007 thread about UPS tracking links, but not what I'm seeing...

In my recently shipped sales orders, the "Unknown tracking number" basically just points back to my home page. Isn't this supposed to be a valid tracking number? Is this a placeholder or something while the system waits for a real link to the tracking number? Please help....

    Hi bobcool,

We're sorry for the confusion. If you can give us an order number, we can check it out for sure, but this is what I believe is happening; the order was placed using economy shipping which is regular USPS First Class Mail. No tracking is available with First Class Mail, so it inserts a reference number from our lab in that spot. We're working on getting this fixed so as not to confuse people, but I believe that's what is happening in your case.

If this doesn't seem to be what's going on, shoot us an order # here or at the help desk http://www.smugmug.com/help/emailreal and we'll be happy to check it out for you.

    Hey Steve,

That makes sense, and is probably what is happening. Just to make sure, could you check on these three orders?

Thanks for your time on this! Have a great week...

    Hey Bob,

I checked all three of these, and they're all First Class Mail. Sorry for the confusion!
