I noticed and would like to better understand what Smugmug means when in the Digital Downloads Commercial Licence it says....
perpetual licence
Does this mean they downloader has a perpetual amount of time to use the photo (whenever it is needed?)
Does this mean they can use it over and over again without having to pay for it's use over and over?
Thank you in advance for the clarification.

Sorry, forgot to list the exact line from the licensing agreement as follows:
Photographer grants you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to use this image
So, what does perpetual mean in this instance?
Canon AE1 - it was my first "real camera"
Canon 20D - no more film!
Yes and yes.
I was hoping someone from Smugmug specifically would answer what THEIR intention is / was for putting in the word perpetual and, hoping for a clarification from one of our smug heroes.
Not to take away from your response, your response is truly appreciated but, speaks in more general terms and your explanation does sound logical.
Anyone from Smugmug going to clarify this more for us....
please.

I think the lack of response is because this isn't a matter of opinion or what "they intended for the word to mean," it's just what it means.
A user granted a perpetual license has unlimited "right to use" for the future. It does't matter what Smugmug intended to say; in a court of law that is the way it will be defined.
New license language is in the works, too.
