Just got me a Canon 85mm 1.8! Got it from a fellow dgrinner in fact. I was so excited I had to test it out on my son. This was shot at 1.8 and ISO 200. By the way, my son was watching Cars the movie and I couldn't get him to look at me at all...oh well, mayeb another time. Enjoy!

    Congrats on the new glass!!

I love mine. It is not only sharp and excellent for low light, it is also a super fast focuser for great action shots.

....and thats photo is exactly the type of candid portraits of which the lens really excels at grabbing.

    Now....go do some shooting!!! mwink.gif

Yet another "I want one too!" post for me rolleyes1.gif
Gotta love the focus letting go across the face.

Been thinking about one of those for shooting horseback riding indoors. The arenas have a distinct tendency to be too dim and too big for the trusty 17-55/2.8.

And since we're talking about fast lenses the 50/1.4 and the Sigma 30/1.4 would be nice for portraits and dark stuff and general shallow dof work. And then the Sigma 20/1.8 for widefields. And a second body to alleviate the lens swapathon...
    Creativity's hard.

Wonderful shot! I think this particular shot is even better with him not looking at you.

I just bought this from someone. One question, however. Is the focus ring supposed to keep turning beyond the extremes? When the indicator is on 0.5 or infinity, the focus ring just keeps turning even though the indicator does not...
