Why do you even ask for a comparison for a full frame FX to digital DX sensor, doesnt common sense answer the question for you?
Not really...being that one is super new (D300) to the market and one is really at the end of its cycle (5D) in digital land...Vast improvements are made in a 2 year run...And from the comments in this thread, look like i am not out of line asking the question considering it seems that the general consensus is that unless I am printing huge prints; 20x30"+ I will probably not see a difference between the 5d and the d300 and even then it is arugable. But thanks for the super informative and helpful post.
