Rolled up prints

I am over-all happy with the quality of SmugMug prints. But I really don't like that they roll up anything bigger than an 8x10. Any chance that will ever change?

Or, do it like WHCC. They have the best packing. The largest I had printed from there was a 20x30. It was wrapped between two cardboards.

I love their packaging. Once a large animal mistook my SM tube for a bone!

On another note. How does your prints from WHCC look in comparison to SM. Is there a color difference? What do you do differently when you upload to WHCC. They offer some sizes that SM doesn't ....

Ha. Photo was in plastic, between to pieces of cardboard taped together in a box filled with plastic bags of air.

Both SmugMug and WHCC have awesome print quality when it comes to color and paper. They are so close in quality. This factor doesn't make me lean one way or another.

I use WHCC because their turn around is really fast (3-4 days from the time I upload the order). They offer more sizes and products. Their press printed cards and mounting services is what made me make the switch.

See http://www.whcc.com/pricing/whcc_2008_pricing_0108.pdf It will tell you everything they expect from you when it comes to uploading. Also, it gives you all the prices for all the products. No additional shipping charges. It's included in the price of the prints.

Set up an account, upload 5 photos, and they will print 8x10s (for free) just to show you how it would look.

I wish they would offer the 100% guarantee even though it is your fault like SmugMug honors. They expect you to know how to manage your color...which you should. If it's your fault, you pay for it.

    Hope this helps.

I use WHCC for some stuff...
The only thing that concerns me is being totally responsible for my own color. There have been a few times when I have had thinks printed that were just too dark. Always perfect Christmas cards tho..

I love Smug Mug's Guarantee. But for example. I ordered 100+ photos this week. There are only a few that were tooo light because of my setting it to auto. (I set everythting to auto.) I don't like it that they reprint the whole order if I question one print.

Another thing.....when I post process I do it at 300 because that is what WHCC prefers does it make a difference if you upload 300's to SM????
