Homeless

Preston, like all other cities (and towns) has it's own share of homeless people around the streets. I found this guy sat in a sunny spot with his Jack Russell. He is often seen, along with others waiting for food and drink money.

I framed the shot fairly tightly to be sure the traffic lights were not in view, and the other people passing by oggling both him and me.

I gave the image a sepia finish though I have 5 other edits, but this one seems the most "apt" because it tells a bit of a story with the man & his dog and his surroundings, and how it clearly shows the gulf between him and "fortunate" folk. I like the way that his poverty is reflected in the offer of two meals for just £20 at the adjacent pub.

You did a great job framing the shot and I like it for all that you mentioned. However, what struck me immediately was the relationship of the man and dog. Although his living conditions are sad, the two of them seem truly enriched by each other's company. Nice shot.

and he doesnt seem to have been homeless for very long, he seems to be in relitivle good shape, for the shape he's in. As does his dog... its too bad we dont take care of our own instead of bombing people. great shots (did ya flip him some money for the pics?)

That is sad... a great shot, evokes a lot of emotion. However I have to agree that at first I wasn't sure if he was homeless or not, or if he was just chillin with his dog... he does seem in relatively good shape for being homeless. He also looks like a younger guy... sad :(

He is a regular in the city centre. Just sits around all day accepting bits of money. I don't think he begs though.
