Shot with the 17-40L @ 40mm + 12mm tube, f/22, 20 sec., ISO200, no flash, a bit of light painting with an LED flashlight.

    Hi David,

    Is that shot taken in the dark ?
    There's no blown out areas on the Orchard from the LED flashlight,
    you did good with that David clap.gif smarty pants thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

    I really like this one - the black BG really adds to the dramatic effect.

    Do you have any more hints or tips on the lighting?

    Thanks for the comments, Glenn. As for lighting - I play around a lot with different lights and settings. Sometimes (most times) I do not feel like breaking out the SmithVictor lights and tent. So, I look for other ways to change the light. I find that hight intensity white LEDs are great for illuminating small areas when used right. They are small enough to carry in your pocket for indoor shots.

    The LEDs are a good idea - I must look into that as the dark/black BGs really work for flowers IMO.

    Always fun to experiment! Nice result. I was thinking this method (hate his huge paragraphs lol) would be interesting to try on flowers & other macros.
