Hi Y'all,

An outstanding new forum has started up called Birdphotographers.net.

Its the best wildlife forum I've seen on the net. Its published by Arthur Morris, Fabiola Forns, Alfred Forns, James Shadle, & Blake Shadle. Robert O'Toole, Jim Neiger, and Robert Amoruso are associate publsihers. That is one all-star list of wildlife photographers.
:jawdrop

Membership is $20 a year which is cheap to get your photos critqued by these very talented photographers. They also have some of the best post processing tips for wildlife shots that I've seen.

Check this out you won't be sorry.

    Membership is $20 a year

Harry, I just registered and didn't notice anything about a fee.

Never mind...I just went back with my eyes open and see that it is free until April 1st...for us fools maybe!

Not really, they limit you to one picture per post and one post per forum per day. This is not a Dgrin type of forum. The posting of pics is intended for critiques and if you posted a lot of pictures it would not be possible for them to provide you with a critique. Our critque forum, The Whipping Post, has similar rules.

I didn't mean to sound like I was ragin' on the site or anyone. Just not thrilled when folks mess with my ospreys. Let's just say I've had image(s) removed and also moved around within my posts without any heads up or explination, despite PMing a certain Mod/Admin. It's sort of the old.. "because I said so".was the explination I got. Was hoping to find out the reasoning behind the rule..but not looking to stir things up or change the way it is. Forget the fact that ARtie, Fabs, Judy Lynn and Alfred (all powers that be there) really enjoyed the images/post..and didn't have an issue with it. Just a couple peeps in particular. Still visit...as it's a good site..but don't know if I'll be sharing anymore wacky PS work there. rolleyes1.gif Good site to get your work critiqued. They also make you use your "real name" not a user name. They changed mine on their own. Not sure anyone will know me as myself. I'm better known by either user name I go by. I often wonder if my buddies know my name? Laughing.gif

I think you can still follow the "kidnaping of BeePNogie, the forum mascot by the evil ospreys" in the "Family & Friends" section. It starts with Fabs post with Beep beeing taken by an osprey...and works it's way through a few posts. It's pretty funny. Well... it was for a while. Hard to carry an ongoing story without multiple images in a post. Laughing.gif

I think they pretty much replied to you about that issue in that thread. They are just starting out and have set limits on the # of images per post. They also said that they are considering changing those rules and maybe starting a new forum on the site to where one tell a "story" through multiple pictures..

This site is not like Dgrin but has its focus on providing shooters with critques of their shots and that's not gonna happen if you post multiple shots.

I do that as a matter of course.mwink.gif

Still...I think it prudent to carefully consider what people with such obvious talent have to say.

Sometimes I need to remember that critique is not necessarily criticism.

I did not say it was critism -if I thought it was not worth the time to post and learn I would not waste mine . It is a great site even if you do not join, to look and read the comments on photos you see there it WILL help you with composition something I stuggle with :cry but rules are made to be broke :D

Hi Ric, right now the $20 for the year allows you to use BPN's image hosting service; so you don't have to host on a third-party server and link it into a post. It's not a major advantage, but some people think it's worth the money. In the not so distant future there will be an online portfolio for members that BPN will help them promote. The idea is that everyone can learn and share. If you want to receive critiques from some great photographers, it costs $0... The membership gets you a cool BPN# and helps meet the costs of running the site ;)

Could you be more specific on what this would entail?

    Thanks for the info. :D

It's basically like a mini-site where you can upload 25-50 (still hammering out the details) of your best images (hosted on BPN's servers). Your contact information will be on there as well as your bio. We'll do a bit of Search Engine Optimization on the portfolio and help it get some traffic. Every bit of promotion helps. Thats one of the reason's BPN insists on using real names, promoting you rather than a handle or nickname.
