UMass Hockey, the Stretch Run
Here are some photos from the last two weekends. A two game series in Maine, which is a great place to watch a game, but a rather challenging place to shoot. Dirty Plexi, no real good photo positions...bleh bleh bleh. Plus the team lost two games in two rather crappy ways.
Maine does both the Canadian and American National Anthem.
I think what he is saying is " I will make crappy calls all weekend, so get used to it kids!"
Get a little closer!
Using your feet.
Since getting the 40d, I have been throwing my wide angle lens on my 20d. You dont yield a ton of good photos, but you get some interesting ones like this one.
Dance for your Goal!
Good D?
The next weekend was a home and home against Boston University.
The two games at Maine the ice level shots are all thru glass, so its hard to get sharp crips images. I will admit I have no been spoiled by photo holes. The BU photos some of these were shot thru the most awkward photo hole ever, the rest from the corners.
One more game:
vs BU at the Mullins Center (Amherst MA)
More fun with the wide angle
I wish the background wasnt so busy
I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out (on the other side of the ice)
Ok that it
I will have to admit, since I have been using the 40D I really have been struggling with getting a good white balance. With the 20D I used to just white balance off the home jerseys and then make a slight color adjustment with the grid thingy (yes I am that technical) but since picking up the 40d I am struggling with either pink or white ice. Additionally my laptop monitor is clearly different than other monitors cause I will look at the photos on my own laptop and then they are either way hot or way cold when I post them online and look at them on other computers. So I got some things to fix.
Senior weekend this weekend and then I will miss the Hockey East Tournment cause I will be in Europe ( I know...booo whoooo). Right now the only way the minuteman will make it to the NCAAs is if they win the Hockey East Tournment. It is a very talented team, they just struggled in 08. Oh well. Hope you enjoyed the photos.
