Trying out my sigma 150 macro wide open at 2.8 for a more arty macro not sure if this works with this particular image.
Also went a little insane I think and tried using my 12-24mm lens with a 12mm extension tube fitted this got tricky as focus distance was about 2cm and the mantis just wanted to climb inside the lens.
And then a little more insane I tried another combo with the Sigma 100-300+1.4tc+86mm_tubes at f16 230mm, dont think I will try this one again the rig is a monsterous size and weight.
Well there we go things you do when your bored, the last 2 shots where just for fun to see what can be done without a macro lens.
Cheers for looking.

Number one is definately 'arty' and number two is excellent in that you've managed to capture him in a position that one doesn't normally see. I think he was just as curious as you as you are about him!!
you should get bored more often.

I like number #2 , he's just showing off for you
number 3 is a little too dark for my liking.
