Reviewing shots from the weekend and found something strange about 5% of the pictures had these white specs on them.
Not always the same amount or in the same place.
Viewed at 100% they look like holes thru the picture.(hot pixels?)

Has anyone seen this before? :dunno

Any help would be appreciated.

It would be helpful if you could upload some samples.
Also - were the exposures longer than 1 second?

What happens if you cap the lens and snap a few frames in manual mode but similar exposure to the images where it occured? Use the same ISO as well.

All shots were at f4.8, ISO 320. Lens-70-200 2.8 vr with 1.7 converter.
Shots with cap on at same settings are totally black.
I did shoot in a light rain for about 30min on Saturday.

Sorry shots on Saturday were ISO 800 & 1600, Sunday ISO 320

If it only happens on one card, I would suspect the shielding on the memory card is bad (since the problem doesn't occur with the "black frame" test.)

Can you isolate the problem to the use of one specific card?

Used a different card on Sat. and Sun. I'm thinking maybe moisture?
I just posted the gallery from Saturday under Nordic 2008 on my home page. The problem starts to show on the last few photos. More of the shots from Sunday are showing this.

Edit: Page 4 of gallery pics 76&77. Looks like I edited most of the others out.

Maybe there isn't a problem after all. Going back and looking at pics at 100% I think these spots are water drops coming off the players shoes with the sun reflecting off them. The fields were soaked and the sun was out on Sunday morning when the majority of the pictures are showing these spots.headscratch.gif

I noticed that also, that the "dots" seem to coincide with running and that the dots are in clusters and streaks. I bet you're right, that they are simply moisture dropplets coming off the athlete's shoes and becoming airborne.

    Good call! clap.gif
