This beauty was Clark Gable's favorite personal car. He used it while courting the actress Carole Lombard and continued using it during their brief marriage. After she died in a plane crash, he was reported to have abandoned the car in Canada with the stipulation that it never be seen in California again while he was alive.

I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

Gosh it's in beautiful condition, at the back of the car, in the second image,
is that the trunk, or is it another seat.
Knowing nothing about cars, didn't some of those older antique cars have a hidden seat in the back? is this one of them??
It looks like its quite a long car, did you get to see what was under the hood?
Thanks for sharing black mamba .... Skippy

Thanks for sharing.
Regards,
Gable's Duesenberg won the prize as "Best of Show" in the Classic division and one of the Ferrari cars won in the Racing division. The number and quality of cars at this show is always unbelievable.
Getting good, clean shots of the cars with the hoards of people around is very difficult....takes a lot of patience. The stark, Florida sun and often dark colored cars, or very bright colored cars, makes for exposure challenges. I do the best I can......most come out OK.

Skippy; If I'm not mistaken, that is a 'Rumble Seat.' The old two seaters had these seats that appeared when you opened that latch you see. I remember riding in one in the late 40s. Not sure whos car I was in. Do a search on 'rumble seat' and you'll get an idea of how popular this style was.
