Display date taken instead "updated" date

Now it appears like: "updated: Mar 11, 2008 10:39pm CEST" on my gallery homepage, but i have taken the pictures a few years ago. It would be nice if i can display it like "Taken between: Mar 11, 2004 - Mar 12, 2004".

Is there any way?

    The only way I know would be to manually add it to the gallery description (if you put it in a separate div tag, then you would be able to hide it from the main gallery page).
