As if I was flying above them (airplanes)

Last year I was at the Fairford (UK) airshow ( www.airtattoo.com ) with some friends.

A few pictures I took look as if they were taken from above the flying airplanes due to the clouds in the background and the way they were flying to show themselves to the public.

The pictures were taken with a Canon 300D (Digital Rebel in the US) on the “sports” stand to shoot the “moving” aircraft (lens: Canon 28-300L IS). Unfortunately, in the sports stand the camera automatically increases iso-speed where necessary, which is no problem in bright sunlight, but gets less interesting when there is cloud cover (noise increases). The end of this month I’ll know if we are going again this year. But now I’ll be taking pictures with my 1D Mk III and the 100-400L IS lens. Hopefully the pictures will be better. (A lot will depend on the weather that day.)

Beautiful pics! The background is a bit boring; not sure if PP could spice it up. But also understand that the sky does what it wants to...:D Detail on the planes is great! A slightly slower shutter speed might have helped blur the props in the last pic.

As mentioned above, planes in flight look more natural when the props are blurred. Since you can see the props, though, it's interesting that all of the Spitfires are fitted with the 5 bladed props. Thanks for sharing.
I always wanted to lie naked on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. Cracker Barrel didn't take kindly to it.

I only see 3 blades on the brown spitfire. Am I missing something?

Really like the shots, I would also go with the crowd for blurring the props more.

I'm afraid, my friend, that the brown plane is not a Spitfire. It is a Hurricane. Totally different aircraft from the Spitfire.

The brown one is a Hurricane indeed.

Shutter time was automatic because I had the 300D on "sports" stand. I saw it later that the blades were as good as "frozen". I hope to go again this year. And I will be taking my 1D Mk III now and try some more of the settings myself. I hope the weather will be OK in july.

What a great place you were in to get these shots.
You could get away with saying you were in the air with them :D

The planes flying in the Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight are my favourites.
