Beautiful photos, I particularly like the last one. Might be a stupid question but where are the Grand Falls, are they in the Grand Canyon?

    Thanks Stephanie-

No the falls that are in the Grand Canyon are the famous Havasupai Falls. The Grand Falls are about 40 minutes outside of Flagstaff on the Navajo Nation. There is about 20 miles of dirt road to get there and the water flow depends on the weather from the previous few weeks. The water was high at this time due to recent rains and the snow runoff.

The falls are absolutely amazing though. Along the size of Niagra in height and width but the water is muddy due to the terrain the river flows through.

This was the first time I had been there but plan to make several return trips.deal.gif

    Aaron,

I was just revisiting your shots from last year. Really great stuff!! Did you go back there again this spring?

Wow almost one year to the day (okay week). Kdog and I attempted to go there last year but it was already dry by then. This years spring break trip with my son was the Pacific Northwest. There is a thread with a few shots.

I want to go back but want to make sure it is running- it is a bit of a haul to only find it dry.

Whoa, that is sweet! Certainly different than the types of waterfalls I'm used to. Great job of showing the scale and force of the falls too.

Oh yeah Dan this is a must see. I had heard about this place and seen pictures for years but never knew of its location. Once I found out I was quite mad at myself I never went before.

:D Yeap- I told you the desert has some hidden gems. Kdog can attest you have no idea you are approaching this thing until you get to the edge. Then it is WHOA!!

I just have to get Kdog back when there is actually some water going down it like in these pictures. deal.gif

Definitely. And I agree that it would be very helpful to know if it's flowing before we make the long trek out there again.

Here's what we found last year when we went.

Ummm... that was my bad right? rolleyes1.gif

    For everyone else though-

If you closely at Kdog's shot there are three small black figures near the pool in the center of the image. Those are people!! Gives you an idea of how big these falls are.
