I think the shadows around his face are a little too deep. jmho

Good job with the composition and posing. Your subject looks relaxed and natural. thumb.gif

I think you can crop a little of that dead space above off and make the composition even stronger. I also wish more light was hitting that interesting face of his. Right now, I'm distracted by the bright corner of a book (?) at the left of the frame, and my focus should really be him. More focused light on his face should really bring out the depth that looks promising there.

Overall, nice shot! A few tweaks can bring out some more of its potential, I think. thumb.gif

Thank you both for your tips! I'll try to tweak it a bit in PS and see what I come up with :)

I quite like the space above his head, gives air to the shot, otherwise it would be too crammed with stuff and have no perspective. I also quite like the darkness of the tones, but, yes the shadows on his head are too heavy. On the other hand the tones of the chess pieces, the glasses and the wine, the top he is wearing and so on are to me very appealing and create a mood of indoor seclusion, privacy, intimacy and relaxation. Very good!

i think that this is an amazing shot! the one thing i say is that, while you may not have much control over this, the wine glass and chess pieces at the bottom of the picture would make the picture perfect if they were in focus. this is a fantastic shot though.

Another attempt, a bit different crop and more light on his face.
