Sure it counts. Not quite as exotic as Herrys' herons and egrets, but a stunning specimen of gnarly old gull

    Hey Rich,

I'm gonna start a drive to collect money so we can send the Eggplant to a place where they have decent birds to shoot. Thats a fine pic but its still a "gnarly old gull". Your talents deserve better. :cry

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    I like it
That gnarly old bird is an inbetween -- a teenager so to speak! He or she will lose those brown feathers and become sleek and pretty soon. But, I didn't know this until my daughter took a Marine Biology class in college and told me. Until then I thought there were spotted gulls, brown gulls and white gulls!

This reminds me of my favorite of all time gull shots I took, but I missed the wing tip, so that's why I like it!

geez what a trouble maker. I said it was a good shot and that Evil needed subjects better suited for his talents. You're going on like this because you're too cheap to donate to the Send the Eggplant to Birdland Fund. :thwak I won't rest till we raise enough $ to get him a good bus ticket. Any excess funds will go to my Home for Wayward Lenses of course. rolleyes1.gif

I wanna retire and be just like Harry. Unfortunately, when I retire I'll probably be eating birds, not photographing them.

    Still. it's nice to aspire

A very nice Gull shot Rich thumb.gifthumb.gif

You don't need to ride a bus ( :lol ) all the way cross country to find "better" subjects. You've got lots of nice bird areas fairly close by. Virginia Lake, Tahoe, The Delta, The American River,etc..

Not to mention that gull shots aren't garbage rolleyes1.gif Yeah, they're common but some of them are really photogenic. When we were on the Wharf last week, Andy, Ian and I were marveling at how good looking (and white) some of the gulls were. Plus, as your shot illustrates, you can usually see the expression in their eyes cuz you're so close clap.gif

    Thanks for sharing,
    Steve
