The Sigma 30 f1.4 is an awesome lens, wonderful IQ. And it is HSM. The quality blows away the Canon 50mm f1.4 (and of course the f1.8). But it is a crop lens only. This new 50m is a full frame compatible lens, so that is interesting. The Sigma 30 is $429 @ B&H, so imagine this one will be similar.

But this would put is $100 more than the similar Canon...which would be very tough for many to justify. Come on Sigma, give us this lens for <$300.

Sounds very interesting, price is said to be below $300.
If its up to the Canon 50/1.4 I'll probably buy one.

I really wonder how this would stack against a Canon or a Nikon 1.4 optically...mwink.gif
