Best way to learn a camera is to work it til you can do it in the dark..

My shots are maybe all wrong...didnt set out to do anything but work the camera in all its functions. The composures were often off the cuff & i started photographing the locals..but decided not to post some as you never know whether you just photographed that bloke with the full facial tattoos as he was working the 12 steps with his sponsor or if they were discussing where they are going to get a driver from.

Ok...thats the disclaimer out of way. I have been going to this place for some 40 years. Its one of those joints where the weird is only weird till you see something weirder 10 mins later. Its nearly 100% tourists...the locals work their wallets. Its popularity goes up & down but the locals are die hards & the population is quite old.

The cement just keeps going up..

The indy cars use this street..or maybe the next one over :dunno all looks different from here.

Got some real strong afternoon sun...nothing like shooting at 1/8000. Main town mall.

Whats a tourist trap without Put-Put ?

18400634-M.jpg

Always millions of japanese....they are always quiet & keep to themselves. Is this lust ?

Meter Maids...these shelias walk around putting money in your parking meter if it has run out or about to. They are sponsored by local biz. As you can see...they have a strong following with the boys.

shhh...dont tell her the sash is upside down. She maybe isnt the type to debate tolstoy.

:dunno i must be getting old. They used to be bikini girls maybe in their late 20's with good figures.

That's what I like about this forum, seeing different parts of the world. It's an interesting town Gus and you have a nice view to wake up to. Great shots of the bungee jumper and the countdown. I'm surprised he wasn't pushed off after 10 minutes :poke . Time is money to those boys.

SHARK nets? I live on the coast here, I have heard of shark bites, but never heard of nets.

We have a place kind of like that. It is myrtle beach, and about 3 hrs from here, or a bit more. I hate it! Never realized the wealth of photos that are there.

Right now I am sure our place is hopping. It is spring break. In the carolinas it is one of the rites of passage to spend spring breaks in Myrtle Beach. Oh Lordy can that place be bad. As a single dating adult on visit to that place, some drunk "friend" picked me up and threw me in the pool with my hearing aids on. I was around 40 at the time.

My grandsons, high schoolers, are down there now. If they were my kids I would do everything possible to keep them away from that place. However I learned after the first two kids that I could not control them as much as I thought I would be able to. The first one used a ladder. She came home at curfew, then went back out down the ladder.

We did not live near myrtle beach with her. I don't know why my son didn't go. Sara, my second daughter, she did her partying at our beaches. Those kids can sure party. We don't have the glitzy look of your beach, Gus, or of Myrtle Beach.

They are good photos and just get better, IMO. Love the sunrise........that was the kit lens?

    'Gus...

I don't know if 33 pictures in a row in one's thread is a record here, but they were all worth the wait for the dialup download. Looks as if you're really really enjoying the new toy. thumb.gif

really nice Hummer. Thanks for the tour. Absent the explanations and some local signage it could pass for Venice Beach, CA.

    worth it.

I can't wait to see how you see Yosemite.
