Hey all.

I'm looking for a wide angle lens for my Nikon D50 body. Is there anything out there that is less than 350 bucks (other than those cheap-a$$ "fisheye" lenses on flea-bay?

Thanks in advance...!

What is your desired focal length or range of focal lengths?

    What do you have now?

What application do you have in mind? (Landscape, vista, etc.)

As a complete n00b, I have NO IDEA how to answer your questions! headscratch.gif

Right now I have the standard 18-55 that came with it, and a Sigma 70-300.

As for application...I guess I'd answer with a question - what lens would give me the ability to do a little bit of everything (landscape, vistas, etc), but "just okay" with each one? Is there a lens that exists in my price range that would work?

I'm educating myself as I type this - reading about different options, focal lenghts, etc.

    Thanks much for your reply.

    Hey Andy,

Your existing 18-55mm "kit" lens can produce images with approximately twice the "normal/standard" FOV. At small apertures, it can be pretty sharp as well.

If you need wider than that for single image vistas, I suggest:

    Nikkor 12-24mm, f/4.0G ED-IF DX or
Sigma 10-20mm, f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM or
    Tokina 12-24mm, f/4 PRO DX

I believe each is more than your target price.

(ziggy edit to remove the wrong lens. Doh.)
