The Mrs spotted this wasp today - the first one I have come across this spring.

Wasps are quite intriguing the closer you get (though I would recommend not getting too close...)

Flash used.

Nice set. Fortunate color match with the flower. thumb.gif

I find it safer to photo wasps / other insects on cool mornings.
They move pretty slow then. :D Michael

lovely colours in this guy - and great advice DaddyO!

I haven't had the opportunity to take thier photo before but I'll remember to do so in the morning.

Your wife has great eyes - well spotted.

    Thanks folks.

She was pretty docile at the time, but warmed up even as I took the series of photos.

Hi Paul, Wasps have great faces, as do Grasshoppers.
I know Wasps are capable of giving multiple stings without dying,
    unlike Bees.

Many many years ago while out cutting the grass in the back yard,
I had one of these get caught up in the waist band of my work pants.

At first I thought I had dry grass splintered into the fabric,
as it was more prickly than painful.... but in my effort to remove what I thought was a splinter, I unknowingly made it angry as it tried to free itself.

So about 20 + stings later, I finally got it out of my clothing,
boy was my skin a mess within minutes of the stings.

    Nice Series Paul clap.gif .... Skippy :D

    Thanks for the replies :)

Maxime, my daughter was 4 (I think) when a wasp went up her skirt and stung her on the thigh.

We remember it was very unpleasant for her with just 1 sting, so we can empathise... a1148.gif
