Very nice collection! I like the colors of Nr 2 and 6 especially .

Why do they called hoverflies?
In my crazy mind it associated with a Hovercraft, or Air-Cushion Vehicle

Well they often do exactly that- hover stationary in mid-air. Especially happens with territorial males that hover above their territory.

I vote for 1 and 6 as my favorites. I like hoverflies--I think they are pretty, in an unusual way.
