I Took a trip this weekend with the GF to the USS North Carolina and Fort Fisher (aquarium and the actual fort). The USS North Carolina is a state memorial of a WWII battleship which is currently undergoing restoration near Wilmington, NC. They allow you to tour the ship inside and out which makes for a really interesting day if you enjoy this kind of stuff.
Here are some pics of the ship (with my new E-410 dSLR ;D). They turned out well, especially for being overcast and cloudy all day plus having to use a flash inside. Oh, and I didn't shoot raw because I only have 2GB right now and I took over 200 pictures yesterday. C&C welcomed and appreciated.
These are all 800 X 600 because of stupid auto-size my site software does and I'm running out of room on Flickr. If you want to see the full size then ask (either PM or post a reply) and reference the pic. I'll host those in full, 10MP JPEG/Exif, for everyone to see. I'm a cheapskate on my own online storage so I won't host them all. Without further ado:
With people so you can see the sheer size of these cannons
This plane is launched off the ship and then can land on the water. It is then hoisted back onto the USS North Carolina via crane.
Blueprints
Model of an earlier version of the USS North Carolina with the WWII variant behind it. A cool composition I think.
Close-up of some of the figurines on the model
Not the USS NC but still a cool shot I think and taken from the ship
My woman gets all the nicest kitchen gadgets.
Looking down the barrel of an anti-aircraft gun (not AAA)
