Life Makes a Way
I "rescued this crawfish last summer from a crawfish boil. I say rescue because my intent was to feed it to my oscar in my aquarium. The O didn't eat it and it has been thriving in the aquarium.
Yesterday, my jupari was very active so I took some shots of it.
It was also tank maintenance time as well. The oscar has seemed bored so after changing the water, I re-arranged the decorations. When I lifted up one of the logs, I saw these little guys.
Apparently, there are at least two crawfish fry living in the tank. My two guesses are it had eggs when I put it in. However, I would think they would be bigger than this. The other option is the female stored some sperm after fertilization and was able to fertilize with the stored sperm. Or, it has male and female parts?
When I rearranged the tank, I put some rocks around the edge of the glass so the little fry would use that as cover and I could get a better view. This morning I saw this:

I thought about that, but I would think the fry would be bigger than what they are now since it was around august 2007 when the mudbug was dropped into the tank. I am thinking it had stored sperm and fertilized it's eggs from that.
