I think the actual thing is Mount Lee in Los Angeles where "HOLLYWOOD" sign is located. I went for a little mountain hike with a buddy to see what I can get.
1. "HOLLYWOOD" sign from the other side. You are looking south and downtown LA is on the far left.
2. A long trek up the mountain. That antanae is where the sign is.
3. Coming down the sun was setting. This place closes at sunset so you can't shoot the sunset from the peak. Otherwise your car can get locked in for the night and you have to spend the night with various actors and such. ha ha
4. Nice little place tucked in the mountains with West Los Angeles way in the background.
5. Looking South East, you see the Griffith Observatory where much of "Rebel without a cause" starring James Dean was shot and you can see downtown LA in the back, probably about 15 or 20miles away.
