Well breakup (that's Alaskan for spring) is almost here and I've started getting the boat ready for summer. So I thought I'd share some images of Prince William Sound where we boat.

I like 'Facing the fog', would be nicer if you got more of the mountain in tho!

Facing the Fog is indeed impressive! You don't see the background as a mountain at first. Quite a shock to the sense of scale!

Thanks for the comments. "Facing the Fog" is one of my favorites also. The version posted is cropped from the original which had the boat more centered and part of the snowy mountain top in the upper right. I like this version because it places the boat better and leaves it to the imagination as to how high the mountain is. Use of a long lens made the background appear much more dramatic. The mountain and fogbank are several miles away. EXIF data: Nikon D70, Sigma 100-300/f4, 1/500s f/13.0 at 270.0mm

I was on a boat moving from left to right, the pictured boat was moving right to left, and the lighting was transient. So unfortunately there wasn't an opportunity to explore alternate compositions

yeah #3 is great. I love the mountain in the background, What a massive place!

Very nice.

One thing I remember from my trip to AK was the immense size of stuff. The place
is huge.

It is indeed a huge place. Many thousands of square miles with very few roads. Access is the biggest challenge. Which is why I go by boat
