Sigma Lens Err99 (old firmware)
Howdy!
I would like to know if there are ways to use
an old Sigma 14mm/3.5 lens on a Canon digital
body. The camera says Err99 as soon as I snap
a pic. I found out that the lens firmware is
not updatable to make it work with mordern
cameras. So heres my question, is there any
way I can still snap pictures with such old lenses?

If you can electrically isolate the lens, that should also work for a wide-open, manual focus mode.

Thats actualy true, it works wide open but not stopped down (on my 10D).
I was afraid that I coudn't stop this lens down

I have a couple of old Sigma lenses like that, and they are worth keeping just for their operation wide open. I have considered getting an older film body just for these lenses.
There is no other way, that I am aware of, to make these lenses work better on newer bodies.
