Sunrise or sunset pics never come out right for me. This is untouched normal settings on my xti. What needs to happen here.

What's the exif data?

Looks like you should have used some exposure compensation

it appears to me that the sun is still too high in the sky? Try waiting a bit longer at sunset or a bit earlier at sunrise.

Looks like the face is overexposed. Negative EC is one approach. Manual contol is another. I find I get better results if I use partial metering in that kind of light. What metering mode were you using?

regular metering, whatever that is called.

I will trying using spot or dialing down the exposure.

Watch your histogram, called chimping (don't ask me why 'cause I don't know). If you blow something out dial in some -EC and do it again.

When you load it into your photo editor, you can further adjust the exposure 'til it looks right to you.
