Indiana Water 'Falls'
:wink After suffering from cabin fever this winter, my buddy upgraded his camera and was anxious as I was to get out shooting on the first warm weather this Saturday. We only have a few water falls in Indiana, but with all the rain this spring, we thought it might be worth a road trip. The first stop was Cataract Falls, which had been vigorous earlier in the month.
So off we go and it still has an impressive flow (More of a trickle most of the time. We were both enjoying the warm day. This is me, courtesy of Chris Anderson.
Here is Andy by me

The approach to Cataract falls;
Crawling down to the base of the falls allowed these;
The Spring rains have produced quite a nice result here. Now on to McCormick's Creek State Park and its falls. View of the falls from the top of the bluff.
View of the falls from half way down.
Andy shooting from half way down; this clever fellow had some high rubber boots so he was able to wade out in the creek and get much closer to the falls.
Finally a shot from the stream bed; Andy wades in with his boots to get closer; and slips on a mossy rock; he decides to make lemonade out of that lemon, and sits on a rock to get a good shot. Standing up, he stumbles onto his knee;
All is well, camera held high, he starts back to shore; really falls but manages to keep his head and the camera held high.
I was not close enough to help. but I did have a camera in my hand, so...
When he did get close enough, I rescued his camera, and gave him a hand up to shore. Here is a man who suffers for his art.
So there you are; there are falls and there are falls. We both laughed most of the way home; at all times his camera was held high and in no danger. :thumb Just another shooting day, and they are always good. Regards, David

My parents live between Spencer and Ellettsville, but I haven't made time to hit the park in quite a while. I can say that I've never seen the falls at more than a trickle. But it was more of a summer destination as a kid.
Did you notice those Smugmug straps in action? I bet this is the first post of their water abilities!

I think that's an instant classic. Great shots and extra drama as the new gear almost took a dip
Oh, I meant to ask what kind of tripod you're using. Mine seems just a hair short - but yours is eye level, which I'm looking for. Thanks!

Suitable for most camera's and small block engines. Heavy aluminum, but sturdy as an oak tree. Lotsa cool toys, but I am starting to look at getting a Sherpa.

Great story, including the baptism!
Cataract and McCormick's Creek are great places the think of when it has been raining, like it has been recently. I need to go back again soon.

Thanks for all of the comments; actually kind of proud of all the views that this generated. This hobby sure does leave nice momentos. I didn't realize how many D'Grinners there are from around here. Happy Springtime shooting!
