Some more small birds

A few shots from the yard and pasture next door.

Lark Sparrow. The head is a bit bright but this shot appeals to me.

While birding the pasture by me, I saw a brownish flash speed right in front of me low. I actually crawled under some dead brush to a pile of recently cut down brush trees and I was able to snap a few pics of, what I think, is a male Carolina Wren, as opposed to the Bewick's Wrens that I usually see. I am correct, right?

Finally, this image is from parents' backyard, still in Midlothian though. While trying to fix my dad's computer, I noticed some bluebirds that were very active outside. I was hoping one would perch in a tree, but no, I had to settle for the fence. ;)

Thanks Mike. I am relatively confident that it is a carolina wren but I will wait for some confirmation. :D

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Harry. I am trying to improve as a photographer. It certainly is not as easy as some would think given the technology. I still think that I have a great shot, get home, load it up in Bridge and Photoshop and just say, "Meh." eek7.gif Lately, I have been focusing on good composition since I can't get those frame filling shots.

    Nice Stephen thumb.gif

As a non-US birder :D I'd say your ID of the wren is correct. According to my book Bewick's has white underparts and Carolina has buffy underparts.

    Stephen,
It' a Carolina Wren. As Al mentioned the buffy underpants is one sign. Although sometimes here the Carolina can have a very faint color on the belly. For the the sure sign is the tale. The Berwick's has a longer tail than the Carolina. We get both here.

Nice shots! Liked the Bulebird very much

Thanks Don and you are right. About the only two birds that I know that are more bouncy and hyperactive are the chickadees and kinglets!

Thanks Chuck. The Bewick's is more out toward the west/southwest of Texas but my area obviously is included but I have to be on the eastern edge of its territory. The Carolinas and Bewick's overlap in my area.
