backdrop

hello, anyone know of a good jet black backdrop and lithing for a beginner???? i bought a couple of backdrops but they were so thin and sheer and collected alot of lint! help
also i have a lightbox and have no idea how to use it or put it together... i am learning studio lighting. not easy!

    any suggesstions on where to get one for a great deal?

    For portraits and the like, I've used a long (8') piece of black velvet. It does collect a bit of lint, but it's pretty easy to clean as well. I've had it for a couple of years now and it's still going strong. The nice thing about it is that if I want gray, I just throw some light on it and I get a nice textured look.
