Good heavens... I shot film...

Wow... I broke down and finally bought a film camera. It seems to be the way the trends are going, but I needed to wait until they went down in price before I finally sprung for one. After months and months of reviewing FPR (filmphotographyreview.com) and waiting for the next new camera to come out, I finally settled on a brand spankin' new Holga medium format film camera. I did have to splurge $35 to get the onboard flash, but 37 years ago that would have cost me hundreds.

So, today I went and picked up my first two rolls of film since 1999 (about then, anyway). It was fun to feel the anticipation of looking at prints rather than seeing them on the computer first. Here are my first Holgaroids from my very own Holga...

Thanks for stopping in. Don't be afraid to take that step into the mysterious world of film. It's actually quite fun once you get used to the complexities of the Holga. yelrotflmao.gif

    Holga with Polaroid Back...
I haven't picked up the Polaroid back yet, but probably will in the next week or so. I borrowed a Holga and polaroid back last October on my trip to NYC, and I loved it. I spent a whole day in Central Park taking pics of people and giving them to them. It's about an additional $100... but easily worth that in fun. :-) Here are a few examples from that trip of the Holga with the polaroid back...

hehe... yeah, this thing is fun. Shooting in Central Park with the polaroid back may be the most enjoyable shooting day I've ever had. It would be more fun if I didn't think that every shot I took cost me a $1. I need a sponsorship with Polaroid. Hmmm....

Yeah, I know... I'm not sure a shotgun is enough. I'm thinking about a sniping rifle as well. Maybe a few landmines under the window. kali.gif

Actually, I don't worry about the guys at all. Her attituude lately should keep most guys away. I can barely stand to be around her. sad.gif

    Enjoy your weekend!

Hehe.... try dust on the scanner. The scanner doesn't get much use these days.

I never shot film either. Not seriously, anyway. Just point and shoot stuff. That's basically all this is, too. No settings but focus settings - just point and click.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Vignetting, light falloff, CA, white balance, OOF edge distortion...
... but you make it sing!

So you finally went and got your "#1 on my Christmas list." Long time coming, but it looks like you're having fun.

Are you going to spring for the optional motor drive? (just kidding)
