1DMK2, 300f2.8 Converted from RAW and that's it. I was in the water up to my thighs to get the sun behind me...It was so gorgeous today.

I love the dog. That's just too cool the way it's headed opposite from
the throw toy (which looks like a turtle :D).

    The surfers are good too.

Have a great time in Long Beach.

Nice surf shots Andrew thumb.gifthumb.gif Since it's the same guy, it looks like the shots are different frames from one ride. Very kewl clap.gifclap.gif

I really like the "go fetch" pic too. I hope that's driftwood and not a turtle shell....lol Very sharp pic!

Thanks for sharing these and I'm looking forward to seeing what you post from Long Beach mwink.gif

    Thanks Steve (and Ian)

Actually there's from different series of shots as this guy was the only surfer amongst boogieborders surfing to the right of the lighthouse..

And i was amazed at how good he was at using such low power waves to get such height and action.

As for Long Beach, of course i will share with my friends here...and be more than happy to answer any questions..

    Andrew :)

    (and yes that is driftwood...)

Usually, you see the beginners to the right of the lighthouse. Along with
the skimboarders/boogieboarders. It's a nice little beach though.

And I'm glad to hear it's only driftwood :D

Oh yes I know (I've been shooting surfers down here for years), and you were right there were a lot of bbr's, BUT the other side the sea was out quite a ways and the breaks were not all that good. But what was happening on this side was the way the waves were working it was creating it's own odd sideways wave that was quite strong (sort of deflecting off the outcrop of rock) and this guy was able to really work such a low wave.

In fact I think I have many shots of this guy from the "other side" from the past...

thumb.gif Great shots Andrew! Looks like you really caught the action nicely. One thing that might make the 2nd and 3rd shots better would be to crop off the horizon, similar to the first shot. In those two shots the horizon is very close to the top of the frame. Of course, that's just my uneducated opinion.

I grew up surfing in SoCal, and your photos bring back some fond memories. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. After a second look, maybe just the 2nd shot. The horizon isn't as close to the top in the 3rd shot.
