Hi,

I found this bug in Maryland, climbing a maple tree. Does anyone know what it is?

Hi there, it looks like a Shield Bug to me

Thanks, Skippy. I wondered about it being a "shield" or "stink" bug, but they seem to come in so many varieties and colors that I was not able to positively ID it. He made a good photo subject because he moved slowly, and was not afraid of the camera!

It sure is - thanks! Now that have a name I was able to look it up on Wikipedia. For anyone who is interested, the full name is Boisea trivittata, and they are found primarily on maple and ash trees. Apparently they are real pests, too!
