First Headshots

Okay I must admit I really have fun doing this. I am using an old projector screen on my pool deck at about 5PM with the sun down behind it. I did not use a flash for these. Let me know what you think.

Let me know how I did. I only used the Auto Color Correct on SmugMug have not messed with them in PS at all..

Hi David,

Look like fun shots. Some color correction and skin work in PS would do these nicely. Unfortunately the 2nd is OOF (look at the eyes mainly). That Tammy is a great lens too. The others are nice and sharp. One thing that will help is have the girls (next time) turn their bodies a bit more one way or another.

- As a first attempt, these are not far off the mark. To improve, try using a flash for fill. This will fill in the shadows in the eyes as well as put a little sparkle in their eyes (called a catchlight).

nice. Nice subjects. pretty good soft lighting. A little too much room above the heads for me.

The lighting so distracted me I didn't even think about composition. But, you're right, they are a little centered.

Thanks so much, that is why I posted. I know the lighting was off. I have not cropped the top. I need a place to start from. This realy helps me out.

I like them, but there is room for improvement. WB is a bit warm, but it is better for it to be too warm than too cool. Also, a deeper DOF would help sharpen things up. I use http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html . It is a handy tool for figuring out what I need to do for the right DOF.
