Spider loses it's head

Sorry about the title- a wolf spider exuvium (shed skin). These always look so odd.

    Both shots are amazing, I love the second shot with the casing of the spiders head ........ it's like a Mask.

    That is one crazy image! I never knew spiders shed their skin like that. This should be a great hobby for learning about the natural, miniature world!

    Jetcrocodile - Arthopods- the phylum to which spiders belong tend to have rigid exoskeletons so if they want to get bigger they have to shed their "skin"- grow bigger and then make a new "skin". The process is called Ecdysis and is fascinating to watch.
