Duck, Duck, Goose :-)
Common birds huh? Can't get more common than ducks and geese.
Good idea Andy These common birds usually get overlooked cuz they are so common. But, as this thread illustrates, they can make for some outstanding pics. I'm in awe looking at all these "non-rare" birds. Great job all that contributed
No Egrets Here.......
Nothing new this weekend, so I delved into history, my trip to visit the family in the UK at Christmas.
Mistley Walls, near where I used to live has had a swan colony for years. When I was a kid, taking old bread to feed the swans was a special treat. People still do it today.
This year there was a black swan, which I believe is native to Australia:
Dixie and I spent most of yesterday afternoon shooting egrets, and you have decided that now you don't want them????
Geez.

Ginger,
You're a day late and an Egret short :lol Anyways, April is Porta-potty month. Did you and Dixie get any good potty shots yesterday? :lol4
Jus' kiddin' You know we love Egrets and you can post em anytime But, as with anything else, posting the same old subjects can lead to a stagnant forum So while I will always go out of my way to view a nice Egret, Heron, Crane, Stork, or Raptor shot, I am really enjoying this thread.
I really liked your gull triple header along with Troy's always interesting Gulls, Dave's tough exposure Vulture and Goose, Sam's Gull and most excellent Parrot shots, Stan's beautiful little bird, Thomas' very nice Mockingbirds, Sid's outstanding B&W gull, Ben's little sparrow amongst the green and red foliage, Jeff's reflecting Gulls and Commorants, Ian's Gull shots (especially the one from above), Allen's wonderfully detailed Mourning Doves, Ed's Gulls and brilliantly colored Ducks, PF's supersharp Grackle and Robin, Marloff's peaceful water scene with the Geese and Swan, Gus' carpet with a head and his Teradactyl shot:lol , Khaos' well exposed Red Winged Blackbird, Max's Cool bird shots, David's regal Swans, John's Gull ballet shots, and last but not least all those fine Gull shots that Andy started this thread off with Man, you guys and gals do some fine work
Here's one more. My daughter and I went to Plum Island in Mass which is well known as a birding spot a few weeks ago. This was the only bird we saw......
Gas Station Birds: May 3, 2005
I don't know what these birds are, but they were by our car where I was editing photos I had taken. They were eating red berries. ginger
Comments, help with identification, praise, anything you want to get off your chest, so to speak...........please.

Nice ones Ginger They look like Cedar Waxwings to me Who definitely have a fondness for berries
Gosh, does anyone have a partridge in a pear tree?
ginger
good shots all.
A partridge is a groung nesting bird and rarely seen in trees let alone pear trees, I can however do a Starling in a pear tree in the rain, so the light is horrible
Is a Blue Jay common enough?
Hey! Quit pointing that thing at me!
