I really like the depth of conversions #4-8....looks like a really fun summer afternoon! Nicely done. Care to share your conversion process? I love trying new stuff.

I shot these at widish apertures (F4) to give some of the images the sense of depth. The conversion process is pretty simple.
First open the images in ACR. Adjust for proper WB and tweak the exposures. Second when in PhotoShop I will either fine tune the levels manually or just hit Auto Contrast. (I never use AutoLevels or AutoColor) Open B&W feature in PS CS3 and select Green Filter and tweak from there. I find Green Filter get the closest to the result I want. Then I will eigther manually adjust the levels more or hit AutoContrast. Size then SmartSharpen with 30% and 0.5 Radius. Sometimes I repeat Smart Sharpen.
If you do not have CS3 try doing a gradient map of the image. This usually results in nice B&W images.
The vignette is natural. These were shot with a Canon 5D with 24-105 L mounted.

Thanks!!! 100% Candid on my part... 100% posed on his part.
He was riding the Freshman float and was stiking his "Superman" pose as the float went along its way.
