Weekly Assignment #75: Palm

This time your target is gonna really be within your reach: we're gonna take a picture of a palm. No a palm tree, or Palm Pilot - a human palm. Or palms, plural. Not a fist, either - it's should be at least semi-open.
However, there is a catch: not just any snapshot will do. I want to see your picture telling the story of the palm's owner in some way. Or of the relationship between the owners. Bottom line, it's gotta be an interesting picture to begin with. :wink Think Da Vinci, or Michelangelo, or Botticelli...:-)
One image per entry, multiple entries OK. Moderate PS. Fresh pictures only, as always.
Let's get some palms!

I feels a bit soft/oof, though And the writstwatch draws attention aways from the main subject...
How do you like your Zigview-R? Worth the price?

Anyway.. I've always had a fascination with anything mechanical..
My lens is a bit too big.. I can't do a 2.5f... 3.5f is all I can go.. Made this difficult, but CS3 helped.
Camera: Nikon D80, 18-55 f3.5 stocker & 18-200 Nikon VR.... with a small collection of filters..
My Smugmug.. STILL Under construction.

I see a trend developing (a thing on a palm) and I must say I really don't like it.
As I said in the lead post, this class is
1) about the palm itself
2) about telling a story with it
I also think I mentioned something about overall picture quality.
I'm not gonna point any fingers here, but thus far only Pexi's entry would really made me stop and think about it.
Come on guys, I'm sure you all can photograph something you see hundred times a day better...
Hopefully a decrease in saturation and a light glass filter are not beyond the bounds of "moderate PS".

thank you!
PS amount is fine, but the image is very dark and there is no story
comes to mind. If the hand had a humungous ring on it , might read more that way.

For what it is worth, I think your assignment is very tough in terms of having the palm tell a story. I understand your comment about seeing things on palms, but I also undestand why folks needed those props to add a bit of story.

Please, read the lead post carefully.
It usually contains some important rules.
In particular: "One entry per post".
Nice treatment, too! Looks like a film scan
I like this one too! Good story.

I was never too good at following the rules (I guess I'm the dunce of the class ). I went back and fixed my post.
Edit: OK, now I think I understand a little better, maybe . Staying with the one entry per post, lemme give this one a try again:
I know there is something on the palm but is this closer to what you're looking for or do I need to try again?

I like the idea. Technically you're in.
However - on a very neatpicking level - I don't buy this one. I am a cyclist myself, and this is a very unnatural position for the hand to be on a bar. I'm not even talking about the fact that IRL you'd probably be wearing gloves I still think this idea has potential, maybe reshooting it with the "white knuckles" on the breaks or something... Also it will let the primary subject (the palm) fill the frame more, which it doesn't now ...
HTH
Thanks, I'll try again. Sometimes I actually ride like this but you're right, looks unnatural and I wear gloves most of the time. If the weather holds out today I'll get a chance. If not, I'm going on a long ride tomorrow

Thank you! Nice idea again!
Light is a bit harsh to my taste and part of the image looks blown out, though...
OK, I see what you're talking about. I think I upped the contrast too much in the B&W conversion. The pic was taken with a low Watt flood, 1.3s exposure. I'll have to get the original and look at it again when I get home from work; it might be an easy fix.

Solid idea, clearly expressed!
