Since installing the watercooling equipment, the processor has been safely overclocked to a modest 3.75GHz. Keep in mind that Intel made the Extreme series of processors to appeal to the overclocking enthusiast crowd. Core temps at idle are 47c, 47c, 44c, and 44c respectively. Under full load 66c, 68c, 63c, and 62c respectively. The system has also benched a 18089 in 3DMark06 which is respectable considering the 8800GTS cards are consider lower to middle of the road in the GeForce 8 series. When playing games, this setup is friggin awesome!!! Photoshop and Lightroom is also fantastic especially when working with large (8000+ pictures) catalogs.
Why am I selling? I'd like a desktop buddy for my lonely Macbook Pro! All joking aside, my photography workload is growing quickly and I'd like to switch my Lightroom workflow completely over to OSX instead of opening stuff between OSX and Windows environments. I'm also a huge sucker for the beauty of Apple hardware which should explain why I'm sacrificing this system at a pretty low price.
I will consider trades for a Mac Pro Quad or an outright purchase of $2,200 shipped. If wanting to trade, an escrow service will be involved to ensure that we are both getting what we expect. If purchasing the computer, PayPal is the only way I'll accept payment to ensure security. I highly recommend using a credit card for the transaction for your safety.
The computer will be shipped with the coolant drained and the radiator removed since it's larger than the original shipping box for the computer case. Priming the coolant system is pretty easy to do, and you'll have to learn it anyway since you really should change the coolant in the computer every year or so.
If any of you are reluctant to take the watercooling jump, I wouldn't be. The coolant I use in my system is non-conductive. Yes, it's not as efficient as straight up water, but there is NO RISK of frying your equipment in the event of a leak (which this system has never had).
I do have plenty of feedback as a seller on eBay (username Emulsifide) with just over 250 positive responses. I've also sold on FM (username Mr. Pute) and a few things on here.
Serious inquiries only. If you want to talk to me on the phone about trading or purchasing the system, PM me and we'll hash it out. Thanks.
