We were in California today and took a litltle day trip out to some very tall trees. This one is the world's largest--not tallest or widest but most mass. It is 275 hight and 36 feet in diameter at the base.

Yes, Sequoia (sp?) National Park
It is 80 degrees in Fresno where we are staying, but 400 ft above sea level too. I think 6000 ft plus where these trees are.

I've always wanted to go there, but everytime I'm in California I just don't make the time. Hopefully next time.

El Grande was going to be logged in 2002 before volunteers discovered it and reported it to Forestry Tasmania. Forestry then “protected” the tree by applying management prescriptions but proceeded with a forestry burn that got out of control. The tree was burnt and subsequently died.

yeah, they were very careful how they described this as the world's largest: not the world's tallest; not the worldest widest; the most mass.
