Yes Skippy ,i have CENTRED the subject in some. i think it can work sometimes!:rofl

Thanks Rod, these are at min focus on the 100mm
only very slight cropping.

I just pointed my lens at a ruler at 1:1 and I can see as much of the ruler as the sensor is wide. So the lens seems ok, that fly must have been smaller than I thought.

How did you keep your nerve when faced with this beast? Or do these things just not scare you?

Real nice composition on these Phil,
those jaws can be quite intimidating when you see them open and close.

Excellent series - lovely detail. Esp like the leg cleaning in #2.

Agree - centred compositions do wok when the subject is looking directly at you

Great series-- I often find that centering a subject is more appealing to me as well.

Rod , i am very wary of wasps. you cannot predict what they might do next. worth the risk though getting very close for pics like this.
