I went to the alligator farm for some more practice on Saturday. And on my way back home I stopped at a state park. I got a few decent shots. All were shot with a D3 and 300mm f2.8. Let me know what you think.

Amazing shots! Nice work! I really enjoy the 2nd spoonbill shot! The dragonfly shot also is very nice!

Thanks. Getting a close up of a bug with a 300mm was challenging. I was able to crop it a good bit though.

Did you use extension tubes? I use my 100-400mm zoom often for these kind of things and it work pretty well!

No, I was just walking through the woods and this thing buzzed my head and landed for a minute. I didn't even have my tubes with me. I might try that in my back yard this week and see what happens.

Oh just wondering :) I want to get some tubes eventually.

Great images. The breeding plumage is out in full force! Numbers 2, 5 and 6 are the best of the bunch to me.

Thanks, there seemed to be a lot of activity there yesterday. It seemed easy to get some good shots.

I'm loving 2, 4 and 6! ...actually they are all great! The rookeries are great this time of year. I was at Gatorland in Orlando yesterday and there are birds and chicks galore!

Thanks, there are a lot of chicks and a lot more to come. I saw several nests with eggs still in them.

I'm not really sure if tubes can handle the weight of the 300mm.

I plan on using the tubes on my zoom, the 100-400mm.

I'm not sure how heavy the 100-400 is. Let me know how it works out.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks Harry,
It's amazing what this camera and lens lets me do. Some of the shots I used the 51 point 3D and it was like being a fighter pilot watching the little red square jump around in the view finder.
