Hi!

We went to Montreal this weekend, and I attempted to take some pics.. I am still learning and I admit I do not have a great grasp.. I basically just wander around and follow my kids.. :rofl

Any tips or pointers or feedback I would love :D

    #2

rule of thumb is to NOT put the main subject dead center, but, in this case, it works for me. cute kids.

Thanks.. I keep trying to remember that.. :D
I am also wondering what I should be doing from an editing standpoint.
Those are basically right off the camera.

you might look at various crops to see if it looks more interesting. the last one the color balance is off a little. I would warm it up a bit.

Composition is #1 to making an image more interesting.

The Rule of Thirds is the rule the is deeply rooted in photographers and for a reason... IT SIMPLY WORKS!

These images are not following the rule, but I have not seen your other images.

I really like the first picture. When I first saw it, it was as if the girls were looking into a mirror (probably because they are the same height), but the mirror showed an alternate side of them....one side was the 'girly girl' with the dress and pigtails and the other side was the 'tom boy' ready to get dirty!

    I really enjoyed it!

    From one newbie to another....
I'm learning just like you. One thing I just learned recently, give the subject room to look into. Basically, leave room in the photo to where ever they're looking to. I got kids too, they make great subjects. Good luck and have fun. Great looking kids. Cheers

In the first pic is Bryn who is 4 and Sawyer who is 5. (sawyer is the boy!)

They were having a VERY intense conversation about their leaf pile! Laughing.gif

I really enjoy this stuff so I hope to stick around!

I have one just like that, only it is my daughter and her boy cousin. Seriously it looks like they could be the same kid photoshopped in.
As soon as I saw your piccie, I thought the same as everyone else, and then had to share it with you.
I'll take it off your thread if you want me to... just let me know.

BTW welcome! and keep on posting! (And take everything everyone says with a grin and a shrug)

I love photos of kids doing kid things. :) I do like #2 (makes me wonder what she was playing with..just dirt, some bugs, etc.) Maybe just a bit of a crop would help with that 1/3's rule. :)
