Finally had a home varsity game to shoot..been so wet that they keep changing to away games. The Boys won 5-4....which equals their win total from last season.

Nice pics Dave! I esp like the pics at 3rd. That young man must slide into home when the play is close! We had thunderstorms/rain--so no game today :cry
Prom is Sat, so no sports but the camera won't sit idle.

What lens did you use? I also take HS baseball photos using a 70-300mm and I can not seem to get that close.
I am allow by the school on the field as long I do not intefere with the game, but I have a hard time getting a decent shot of third base from my position near first base.

HI Joe....all the shots that are posted here are from 3rd base....there is no fence so it is actually a little farther out than I would stand otherwise.

if you have a 300mm it should be plenty for infield shots.

they were shot with sigma 200mm 2.8... wish I had a 300 2.8.. the other lens I use is 50-500 bigma it's slower but I can pull in the outfielders with it.

    Hello Dave:

I guess I have to work more on my technique, I am saving my pennies with the idea of getting the Bigma. For the time being, I will keep using the 70-300 which, I am sad to say, is not a 2.8 lens.

By the way, you photos are really nice.

    Joe
