Good capture- not technically the common housefly but a bluebottle fly. Must admit though it's the fly that gets in to my house most frequently :)

    Hi Brian

    Thanks for looking
not technically the common housefly but a bluebottle fly

I am no expert but I think you will find that the bluebottle has a more irredescent body colour - I looked this one up in my insect book and it appeared to be a house fly - but I stand to be corrected.

He looks good Stan, with flies I like to see more of their face.
Your lucky you could get close, I don't seem to have that luck much with flies the take off before I can get very close at all.

    Nice Capture thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

    Hi skippy

he was quite high up on the plant and against a wall so this was the best angle I could get. Also had to shoot handheld as no time or room to set up the tripod before he flew off
