Now that's an unusual setup, they don't use pegs??
How does that work? do they lay the clothes over the poles,
or do they thread the clothing through the poles?

Wonder what happens if it's windy?
What happens to stuff like socks and underwear??

I know a lot of folks in USA and Canada go straight from the washing machine to a clothes dryer.

Personally I do not own nor have I ever owned a clothes dryer.
I dry my washing outside on a retractable clothes line,
or if it's my work clothes I dry them on a stand out of direct sunlight.

    Interesting Shot David thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

    Hi Skippy,

Thanks for your curiosity and interest in our culture.
This shot was taken at a common corridor of a cheap govt. housing estate and there isn't many left in Singapore.

To your questions; You still able to see bamboo poles protuding out of high rise balconies is are a common sight. Clothes dryer not common here since we have sunny days almost all year round - and its free !!

2 ways of hanging the clothes, either clothes are thread thru' or pegs are used. The above pic had the pegs kept by owners, otherwise someone will steal it (I think).

    Thanks for looking.
