Pricing a commercial shoot

Hi all,

I need some help with pricing a commercial shoot. I've had a quick look through the forum, but not really found anything useful and I need to give the client a quote by tomorrow afternoon.

I usually shoot portraits, the format I adopt is to hire somewhere fairly close to me, a church hall or similar kind of location. Setup a large backdrop two, Bowens heads and my photo gear, then I have a stream of clients come down for 20 - 40 mins slots, shoot as many photos as I am able, then send them off home. After that I select between 30 - 40 of the best shots, remove backgrounds, blemishes, colour manage and crop, then bung them on my SM site for them to purchase. The only time I charge the customer is for the prints. I don't charge for the shoot itself, my portraits (usually!) speak for themselves and I make a fair profit (it's only a part time thing).

Anyway, the commercial shoot is a half day shoot at the clients' offices. They want between 5-8 headshots of each member of staff (there are about 10 people there). The setup will be the same as my portraits (two heads and a backdrop, plus photo gear). The headshots will then be used on business cards, so I just need to prep the images a little, cleanup blemishes and remove anything nasty from the background.

They want a price for the whole thing including delivery of the digital files. They're going to do the work with the business cards.

So, how much? I'm thinking roughly around £500 for the half day, which includes me, my kit and then the digital files.

What say you knowledgeable chaps?

Many thanks,

Mike
