Soft-Release of SmugWP 3.0, the WPG2 of SmugMug!

belinebeline Registered Users Posts: 90 Big grins
Hey everyone. I am soft-releasing my finished copy of SmugWP 3.0 (meaning, I don't have time to upload all the nice little pictures and put up a post on the blog right now, I'll do that tomorrow).

SmugWP 3.0

What it is: It offers WPG2-like functionality for SmugMug. If you have a SmugMug account, you can now browse, select and insert images from your SmugMug Galleries, into any WordPress Post or Page, directly through the WordPress 2.5 Media interface. Just like we used to do with Gallery2 (if you used to do that).

It inserts the images as HTML, and if you have WP Lightbox 2 activated, it can format them for Lightbox display as well!

SmugWP, remaining true to it's roots, also still does the confirm and redirect business it set out to do from the get go as well.

I am in the process of adding docs about what it can and can't do. As for now, if you have WordPress, feel free to grab it and play around. It won't break anything, as it can't write over anything WordPress or SmugMug does. So give it a go!

Also, SmugWP is built off the API, so if I could get an add to the Wiki, that would be great!

Cheers!! :thumb

Just gave it a try, and I can't seem to get past the following prompt, even though I'm entering all my login information at the SmugWP Option Page. Any ideas?

"Your login credentials for SmugMug are INCORRECT. This will cause SmugWP to not function properly. Please proceed to the SmugWP Options page, and update your SmugMug Login Information immediately."

    Yep, saw that.

I took a look into the issue. Turns out I had a little issue with the initiating options that I didn't notice because the development cycle of the plug-in masked the issue. The current 3.0 Package has been patched and tested on a fresh install of WordPress.

    Enjoy!

Still having some sorta problem, no login issues though. I have no idea what. I'm using WP2.5 and a bunch of other plugins, but don't think that is what is causing my issue.

I rm -rf the old plugin directory, unzipped the new smugwp you updated, entered in all info and get this message.

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in ../wp-content/plugins/SmugWP/SmugWP.php on line 243

Yes. This is normal, and the plugin should work properly. This is because I (unintentionally) skimped on a number of isset() tests before running my foreach() loops.

I do not have Display Warnings turned on by default, so it doesn't effect me, but I am cleaning it for you right now (not just for you, I need to learn better coding practices).

Expect a point update in about 10 minutes.

Well no more warnings, but things seem to not play well with my setup for whatever reason. Here's what get.

Warning: Wrong parameter count for array_slice() in /wp-content/plugins/SmugWP/SmugWP.php on line 376
    There has been an error!

    Bah, piece of cake!
There was nothing to display for the request 'album.' Likely cause? Wherever you just navigated to is empty (Album, Sub Category, Category).
Easiest way to fix that? Put something in it, of course!
Go outside, take some pictures, put them here, and you shouldn't receive this error again (here anyway).
If this is an Album, there is another possibility.
Go to the SmugWP Options page an make sure that both 'Columns' and 'Rows' are numbers, and don't contain letters.
However, most errors are likely caused by incorrect log-in information (are you receiving warnings on the admin pages?). Head on over to the SmugWP Options page to update your log-in information.
If that doesn't work, and you keep getting this error, it is likely an coding issue (very, very bad), but just to be sure, double check to make sure your settings are all correct on the SmugWP Options page one more time (hey, it happens).
    Still no go?
Check the plug-in Home Page for alerts and updates, and/or re-install the plugin.
    Best of luck!

If I could provide any more information, please let me know as I have yet to find a decent plugin to use with wordpress and smugmug. I've tried to change the settings mentioned and there hasn't been any change. I can login fine to my smugmug, when I begin to browse, I can see my categories and sub categories. I can't seem to change to change the number or rows or columns, or get the proof function to work.

Please let me know if I can provide more information

I assume the gallery contains images? How many?

I suppose it could be timing out while retreiving the album contents. What are your Row/Column settings? No spaces or letters?

I am making some changes to the error handeling to give me slightly more usefull information. Pick up 3.02 here in the next hour.

As for the proof function. I would need to see your form code, and what you have set for your "Request Key."

(I am looking hard mate, but it works fine on two fresh installs for me... Make sure you have the latest.)

Yes, I've tried some with 100's of photos, and some with only 3 or 4 photos.

I cannot change these settings at all. I've tried to delete the and install the plugin again, but no change. When I change the numbers and click the submit button, the page refreshes and the defaults are back in 5, and 6.

OK, well maybe I missed something here, and this is my whole problem. I don't completly understand the "Request Key" I left it as default, maybe this isn't correct?

I just unzipped the plugin, activated it, entered in my smugmug login/pw and left everything else alone. I've been known to miss the important steps before, but believe I did everything I needed to use the plugin.
I'll give 3.02 a try, or just wait to hear back from you, if I'm doing something completly wrong with that "Request Key" fill-in.

Well don't loose any sleep over finding the problem I'm having, since it could just be something odd in my setup, maybe it's some css stuff I'm doing in smugmug or something, I have no idea. Hopefully I can help resolve it by answering whatever question you have, or some I'm just doing something plain wrong.
    Thanks for the help.

Ok, I need to add more detail to the documentation, as I can see some gets lost in the middle here.

Try 3.02, when you go to the options page, check the box next to "Reset to factory defaults" for the Gallery options, and click submit.

Then try changing the values again (I have a suspicion this is whats causing the issue). The phrase "I do not suggest you change this, and if you do, remember the default value is [5]" (or 6) should not change, just the value in the box.

Try again, and send me the diagnostic info when you do.

Also, the Confirm/Redirect bit, what have you tried thus far?

    default 3.02

    • Images: 21
    • Images per Page: 30
    • Current Image: 0
    • Pages: 1
    • WordPress Version: 2.5
Funny thing is I changed the rows columns to 3 & 3, hit submit, and then did the same thing and got the exact same diagnostic information.
v3.02 columns set 3 rows set to 3 (though the values still remains 5 & 6 even after I hit submit)

I find it odd every time I deactivate the plugin, then remove the plugin directory, then unzip the new plugin, then activate, and check the settings it still has my smugmug login info. Seems as if something isn't getting deleted, or overwritten. Maybe this points to the problems I'm having?

The plugin saves your options inside WordPress, so it doesn't lose your credentials or changes when you upgrade. But the fact that your credentials are saving is weird, as it means your cols and rows should be updating as well.

Do you get a message that say sWP_tall or sWP_wide have been updated when you try changing them? Did you try the "reset to factory defaults" checkbox? When the breadcrumb was displayed in this thread, there is a space in there (25523 2). Is that space displayed in the error? Or is that a bug on these forums?

I am going to PM you some questions.

Also, what version of PHP are you running?

No there isn't any space there, must be something odd causing that when i copy/paste to the forums.

Yes I did get a message that sad sWP_tall or sWP_wide have been updated when I did the "reset to factory defaults", but I do not get this message when I change the rows or columns.

    I'll keep watch of pm..

So, for anyone who wants to know. The previous errors were caused by my passing one too many variables to array_slice() under a PHP 4 environment.

Sufice it to say, if you were having a similair issue under a PHP 4 environment, it is fixed in SmugWP v3.03.

    Enjoy.

Can someone give a snapshot example of what to put in the WP Options screen? I've tried my username, my email address, all without luck. It keeps reverting back to "admin" and saying that I am not configured. What am I doing wrong?

I get the same thing; it looks like none of the changes I make in the settings are ever getting saved. Really wish I could get that working; I have been waiting for something like this for a long time.

Well you could try one of the following things, maybe it will help. I just have my smugmug setup email and password in the proper boxes, and don't have any issues.

So maybe try one of the following.

Check the box on this option, try again.
SmugMug Gallery Browser Options - Reset to Factory Defaults

Click the Reset key and then enter your smugmug information again.

I wasn't having problems with the login part, I was having more issues with the display of photos, and gallery navigation.

Tried that, but still nothing. Anytime I try to make a change to any of the settings in the admin area, NOTHING happens. It just comes back to the screen as if I didn't do anything at all.

I went into the database and entered the information and it works fine, but still not sure why I can't make the changes through the admin panel like it should work.

After that I went and tried to add a photo, but when I clicked on the "Generate Tag" button, nothing happened. So, looks like this is just not going to work for me in its current version.

    * One thing that I definitely do not like is that my password for SmugMug is stored in the database as clear text instead of a hash value.

I went through the same thing. The changes wouldn't post to the database so I had to manually update them and found that the password is plain text. I modified the code to md5 the string.

As for the Generate Tag button not working, I had the same problem. You need to put something in the Group field.

Even after installing, activating, etc., I can't get past the:

"Your login credentials for SmugMug are INCORRECT. This will cause SmugWP to not function properly. Please proceed to the SmugWP Options page, and update your SmugMug Login Information immediately."

Using the latest WP and latest SmugWP -- any thoughts? ne_nau.gif I've added the login/password info on the form as well as on the php file itself, but not working.

This addon is just a big pile of error central, very user unfriendly and unsecure since you have to manually enter login details in database.
